Stop Talking a Good Game and Listen

The other day I was listening to someone in the music business that I think is one of the most smartest and influential people in the game. His name is Jermaine Dupri and right now he is one of the few in the music business that I know of (besides my other favorites Kanye West and Pharrell Williams) who is mastering this social media phenomenon. While listening to an video clip that he did for blogworld I noticed that he mentioned that he loves social media because it cut out the middle man in his business endeavors. He no longer has to listen to the old executives who guess on which group of people like his records. Now since social media has come along he can know exactly who is buying his products and more importantly why they like what they like. This brings me to a point that I heard from a network marketer which ties Jermaine Dupri and network marketing together. For the last week or so I have been listening to audio from Dani Johnson and one thing that I can always get from her brilliant training calls is the art of listening. Listening to the needs of your prospects and capitalizing on what they need. That’s exactly what Jermaine Dupri does on his blog, his twitter page and his youtube page he listens to his audience and understands what the needs are to make his products even better. So how can we as Network Marketers listen to our audience better using social media?

The Story of one of My Favorite Artist

I heard a success story from one of my favorite musicians that I felt impelled to share with everyone. For anybody out there who is struggling in network marketing please don’t give up your hard work will one day pay off. I know this is true because one of the most popular musicians went through hell before he could reach his success. This particular musician wanted to become a star. He felt it in his heart and soul that this was what God wanted him to do in his life. He was a good student who had the wonderful opportunity to go to college and become very successful within any field of his choice. But his dreams could not be held down in a classroom and from there his life would begin. Despite his mother disapproval he began his journey as a musician on shaky grounds. See he saw his talent but unfortunately nobody else in the music business could. So for three whole summers he would lock himself in a room for hours on in just to perfect his craft and come up with the best music he could possibly make. Numerous of attempts to get signed by a record label had failed but who he would not let that distract him. He was finally signed to a record company but not as an artist. See he was so talented that not only was he a great artist but his was an even better producer. The record company saw his unbelievable talent as a producer and never took him serious as an artist so his struggles continued. This was once again another hurdle that he would have to overcome. Yes he could have settled for just being a producer but in his heart he knew that he would never limit himself just because others around him did not believe. Now you have to realize that the people laughing at him, kicking his dreams of a wonderful life as an artist were his friends or what he considered his new family. However he would not let this discourage him so all he did was work harder practiced more and perfect his craft. Before long people began to notice all the hard work and dedication he was putting into his music and they began to see what he saw all along. The record company had no choice but to let him record an album and now Kanye West is one of the world’s biggest stars. Even though it took him years of struggling and overcoming one obstacle after another one he never let his dreams die. See what keeps me going in network marketing even if I’m not yet seeing a dime is the fact that people I admire went through struggles just like I am. What’s also similar is the fact that we will never let anybody decide our future. Stories can be a powerful motivator for anyone in any situation. Instead of boring your prospects or downline with facts tell them a story that they can relate to that will help them in their most trying times.

Where does Success Come from
Success comes from taking action.
Action comes from preparing yourself for what lies ahead.
Preparation comes from knowledge to know what to do and when to do it.
Your knowledge comes from the mindset and hunger to want to learn more.
This is the formula that I tell my high school basketball team every time
I see them making mistakes and getting frustrated afterwards. Sports and
Life can go hand in hand if you really look at it. We as network marketers
focus mainly on the end result which is money just like basketball players
only look at their end result which is scoring 20 points or winning the game.
But we are missing the keys to success in both fields. Our mindset, our knowledge, our preparation and taking action is what will determine
success and that is what we should be focusing on.
I learned never to focus on the money, I am looking
for perfection in my business and learning as much as possible.
Just like I did when I was playing basketball, the mission was
to perfect the jump shot and once I fulfilled my goal my confidence
rose and suddenly I began to score more points. So struggling in
network marketing is part of the process of having the right
mindset, gaining more and more knowledge, practicing on what you
have learned and then going out in the world and doing it.
The end result will lead to success.

Is Being Obsessed With Network Marketing Wrong?
I was on a forum the other day and came across a very interesting question. The person’s question was if it was bad to be obsessed with Network Marketing? As I was reading the answers to the question from some people I was compelled to write a blog entry on my feelings to the question. Do I think it is bad to be obsessed with network marketing? My answer is to not be obsessed with network marketing but to be obsessed with who it makes you become and the knowledge that you gain from it. I have been in network marketing for a year now and in my journey I had really changed as a man from this whole experience and I don't think I would have changed if I continued to live the life that I was living. Before I was involved in network marketing I was a young man who didn't really want much in life, I really didn't have a drive and basically was comfortable where I was. Once I began my journey in network marketing I began to see a change in my character and in how I viewed life. No longer did I want to sit around and wait for things to happen. I wanted certain things to happen and that meant reading books and taking action to seeing it through. See this whole concept of network marketing is really a first hand experience of learning business for people who never really studied business in the past. Before you join you really don’t have a clue about marketing or how to run a business along with other things. The true underlining success within network marketing will teach you how about business along with empowering your mindset to believe that you can achieve anything. If you do become successful in the business it will teach you how to discipline yourself, how to educate yourself and how to overcome failure. You will learn that those prized possessions that you eagerly yearned for was not what was driving you. So to get back to the question I think as a whole there is nothing wrong with being obsessed with network marketing because with network marketing the real obsession that you will experience will be one for knowledge and personal empowerment.
